I had decided not to sell my Z71A and have been using it for a short while and really like it. However, I have read some of the threads on the Z70VA and really like the look of it better. Since it is an older model, it seems I could pick up a barebones unit rather inexpensively (I generally use my laptop for word processing and internet.) I was wondering if I could use a cdrw/dvd drive from an M6N since they look identical. Also, I noticed it requires a 1.6 cpu or greater, but I have a an extra 1.5. Finally, are the bezels to the drive removal and standard. I have a dvdrw I purchased for the Z71A. Finally, to anyone that has seen both, is the screen brighter on the Z70VA? Thanks!

M6N and Z70va have the same slot for the optical drives whatever it is dvd/cdrw combo or a dvd burner, but the z71v/z71a's optical drive cannot be compatible with the M6 or Z7 series. M6 series require a 400MHz front-side bus Pentium-M centrino cpu, whereas z70va/z71v/z71a need a 533MHz front side bus cpu such as 730(1.73)/740(1.86)/750(2.0) and so on. I am not sure whether z71A's screen is brigher than z70va without a size by size comparison, but z71a has a 1280x800 resolution and z70va has a 1680x1050 resolution.

Thanks so much!!! Last question, do you know if the bezel of the z70/M6 is removable and standard so I could use a dvdrw I already own and same some money. Thanks again!!!

yes, the bezel is standardized for that series, it can removable, but only for that series. I don't guarantee that it can fit to anther models!!
