I have been using my Z70Va since last October. When I got it I did a fresh Win XP home install and went to Asus's web site and downloaded the latest (at that time) drivers, utilities & updates. I am a semi heavy gamer (HL2, Halo, Unreal, Unreal 2004) using it aprox. 4-5 hours a day. I am very pleased with the performance and game playability. In the months I have owned it I only had one problem with it. I was playing HL2 and got a BSOD. I traced it to a bad mem stick. RMA to ISTNC and back within a week. Working flawlessly since. My question is how often, if ever, does Asus post updates on their site? I check there at least once a month and have not noticed any new ones since 11/05. I am not having any problems or issues with the (old) drivers, I just want to keep my comp. up to date.

    Thanks

Thank you for the reply. I just updated all the drivers. Everything went smoothly! Does anyone know if any bios updates are in the works? Maybe for the "loud" fans?

The loud fans you're going to have to deal with because that's just how your laptop cools your hardware.

It's not that bad if you are in low power mode. You shouldn't be using your laptop in high performance mode anyways, unless you're playing a game.

If you just use it in dynamic switching mode all the time you won't notice the fans going nuts all the time.

    Cheers,
    Mike

ASUS does not offically allow the use of standard ATI mobility drivers, thus you will need to mod those to get them to install on you laptop.

ATI change something with the installers after Mobility Catalyst 6.3? That's the latest one I have installed and all the ones previous worked fine on my Z70Va.
