Each reseller says a different things....from 1.34 to the extreme 1.5 given by geared2play.com...

So my question is..will the thickness vary from reseller to reseller or is it all just different estimations..im not reall sure...if you have a Z70va could you measure it maybe? and then tell me your reseller...

(i know this all sounds weird but thin-ness and form factor are a big selling point for me)

Yes, it ranges from the thinnest to the thickest. Sometimes the numbers you see may also include the pegs that raises the unit off the surface for airflow.

ultraman, the reason for this is because the Z70Va isn't like your conventional notebook computer. Instead of having equal thickness throughout, it's like the notebook is on a pedestal. What I mean is, the base of the notebook computer is smaller than the palm rest area and the surrounding keyboard area. It's like an illusion, to make the Z70Va look thinner than it really is. It does work though, as the Z70Va seems to be super thin.

The edges of the notebook are probably the thinnest measurements given by the resellers, and the thickest is the whole of the notebook, where the base is included, not the edge of the notebook.

It's pretty darn thin, so don't worry about it. The V6V is thinner than the Z70Va though. That thing is sexy, just wish it had a widescreen aspect screen, and I'd be all over that thing like my friend's dog spike on my friend julia's leg. :D

    Cheers,
    Mike

Npt sure where on our site you found 1.5" but here is what the review found
    Dimmensions
    10.75" Deep
    14" Wide
1.3" Tall (on front with feet)
1.6" Tall (on rear with feet)
Feet are about 1/5 of an inch

... some people may estimate it. What we do is measure the thickness at the front feet and then at the rear feet. We leave the thickness of the feet off anymore as most of them are about a 1/4" and that makes the system seem thicker (or so we've heard). We used to measure from a table top to the top of the lid. We thought it was a good idea, but apparently the industry standard is going to be more important to people who are trying to compare across brands.

Any time you see a varying thickness it means that it's not the same all the way through. This is more common today with centrino systems and especially Asus' systems than it ever has been due to the new designs they can use.
