    hi everyone.
i just got my z70va serviced after the gpu fan broke. i got it back yesterday n there seems to be some problem w/ the graphics now. i loaded up xp professional w/ sp2 n then went on to update the x700 drivers. i tried the latest omega drivers but didnt work. so then i tried the stock drivers from ati for the x700 but it says no hardware detected. checked the dx diagnostic but didnt provide any futher info. belarc advisor says no hardware detected also. so i popped in vista. vsita assigned my x700 drivers. but then i got 2 graphic ratins. first one is a 2.8 under the "graphics" component. and a 4.2 under "gamin grpahics" component. uh .. i dont know what is goin on. speedfan is havin problems controllin the fans too. fails to detect the sensors. have not tried speedfan with xp tho. anyone have any idea what's up? thanks in advnace :]

Did you try installing the chipset drivers first?

Sometimes you need those first so it can install all the bus drivers so it can see the video card and then install the ATI drivers.

    1. Don't worry about the Graphics index. A notebook I recently bought gets 2.0, I read on Microsoft that that's supposed to mean I cannot run Aero at all... but the computer runs Aero smoothly without any kind of slowdown! So it's just shameless marketing that Windows does for new hardware that you actually don't need.

    2. I would suggest not use SpeedFan in Windows Vista, it has compatibility issues. It had them with newer chipsets even in WinXP... Just leave the BIOS do its job of controlling the fans.

As to the GPU, follow tebore's suggestion first, and if it doesn't work, post back.
