i just got this laptop and while installing windows the Ambient Light Sensor worked, turning off the light resulted in the screen to turn darker, which i think is cool. but once i got into windows it wont work anymore, the driver CD doesnt seem to come with anything for it..

how can i get ALS to work again?

    EDIT:
oh and also, the built in wireless is dissappointing me, i get Excellent to Very Good signal and get about 60KB/s out of it with 300+ms lag, it makes going through directories of other computers on the network a lot harder.. the part i cant stand is it cant play a song stored on another computer without pauses every few seconds. its fine when i plug it in wired, or get the song copied over to the laptop's hard drive

I believe ALS is part of the ATK0100 utility. If you download the latest version of that or maybe just try reinstalling it, it should work again.

... actually, ALS is part of the bios....... when we build these systems, right from the get go they respond to the light.... The first time it happened someone asked me if the systems screen was bad because it was really dim.... but they were working in very low light. Turn the light on next to the system and it brightens right up.

I'm not saying the ATK doesn't assist or change options in some way... but it OS independent.

well i tried reinstalling ATK and it didnt do anything except cause the XP style login screen to turn into the win 2000 type.. when i try to change it back in User Accounts it says the following file is associated with the installed program that is stopping it: IWPDGINA.DLL

Well, imo, the ALS was just a gimmick anyways, so I always have mine turned off. I would rather adjust the brightness to my preferences than let ALS take over.
