The Z70V has better looks- the Z71V appears to my newbie eyes to be packed with more feature and larger dedicated video.

Am leaning towards the Z71V (even though I agree the Z70V look cbetter). Is this a good choice- if not, please explain.

Justin- thanks! You've answered my question on my other thread.

Incidently- how much do you sell a barebones Z70V unit for?

Dude - no problem -- but don't start random threads like this, please.... do a little research and.. i dunno, you could just ask me what the difference is and make up your own mind instead of just asking other people to do the work for you.......

A Z71v and Z70v are about the same price (z70v is $20 more)

    Z71v -
    128mb nvidia 6600
    ALS - ambient light sensor
physical support for an SATA hard drive.... no performance increase though as it's on a pata interface.... but you could use the drive if you wanted to.

    Z70v -
    64mb ati x600 (w/ hypermemory)
    option for port bar 3
carbon fiber constrution (makes it 1/2 pound lighter than z71v)
    screen is a higher quality

Z70v is better all around...... the Z71v wins the graphics challange, but loses everything else..... the Z70v places second in most and first in a couple and therefore is your overall champion...

If you want the best of the Z70v and Z71v...... get the Z70va...... same as the Z70v but with 128mb ati x700 and bluetooth...... this will be out next week (with the internal bluetooth)....... and it'll be about $150 more than the Z70v which makes it $170 more than the Z71v that you were looking at, but a MUCH better machine all around. If you don't need the graphics for high high end gaming, then get the Z70v without a doubt.

Appreciate the info- sorry bout the redundant thread. But geesh, give a new guy a break - it's been a long hard day for me too.

I will reconsider my path forward - your info is appreciated.

I completely agree with Justin... if you're worried about the graphics performance of the Z70v compared with the Z71v, then get the Z70va; it is pretty much better than the Z71v in all aspects... although i still really like the ALS of the Z71v.

Still though, the Z70v is a great buy if you can't afford the Z70va... still better than the Z71v in enough aspects to buy it (in my opinion at least)
