I'm heavily debating an Acer TM4402WLMi or a comparably built Asus Z71V. I do know the Asus will probably cost me about $250 more, because of the expensive DVD+-RW and Pentium M's. I do like the Asus' better LCD though.

Anyways, just wondering if the Asus has built in bluetooth already in the barebone? Or if it can be built with bluetooth internally?

EDIT: this is a Z71V...i must be tired...so many typos...

I believe the current z70v does not have bluetooth but the "refreshed" z70v is rumored to have internal bluetooth.

The z71v doesn't have bluetotth neither, it's a pity though.

Your best bet is to buy a bluetooth USB dongle, or a PCMIA card.

there are mini-pci 802.11bga/bluetooth cards that you can put into the computer. I think newegg has one. The only downside is 1 antenna goes to your bluetooth and the other to your 802.11abg (instead of two).

Checked that out on Newegg. Looks like MSI released a mini PCI card that has wireless b/g and bluetooth. Not sure if it will fit the laptop, or work very well.

I did notice on another forum someone metioned there is a 3com blueooth PCMIA card that sits flush with laptop casings (nothing sticking out)?

If thats true, that sounds almost as good as internal really, as I dont plan to use the PCMIA slot for anything else.

No.. it won't...... you need a mini PCI....... PCI-E is for a desktop... two very different things.

I meant mini PCI...very tired at work right now...i'm not used to doing the night shift.

Is making a notebook centrino anything special? (having the chipset, processor, and wireless all match or something).

actually, i think we do have a PCI-express expansion (granted, i think it's only 1 lane -- my 6600go has 16 lanes, which is certainly excessive, but it puts things a little into perspective). On my Z71v, it sits under my 4 in 1 card reader. It doesn't open as easily as a PCMCIA expansion, but it is expansion. I haven't heard of any devices meant of this port yet. Has anyone else?

I read through that thread and it looks like just one person tested it with the Z71V and it was a no go. Also mentioned something about 2 antennas, and if you want bluetooth it requires 1 antenna, lowering reception on wireless.

Seems like external options that sit flush with the casing might do the trick. Does anyone know exact models for bluetooth PC cards that sit flush with the casing, or maybe SD cards or something else a Z71V can take?
