Recently I noticed that my laptop has been getting very hot. I flipped over my laptop and noticed that the heat was coming from where the GPU is located. I then noticed that the GPU's fan was not turning on.

I installed rivatuner and found that my GPU is running at 80C just idling.

I took out an old CPU fan from an old laptop and plugged it into my Z71v's fan connector. The old CPU fan did not turn on either, but it works just fine in my older laptop.

I'm thinking, but not hoping, that the fan connector is dead.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I popped out the GPU fan and tested it in the CPU fan power socket and the GPU fan started spinning.

Either my GPU fan power socket is dead or there's a fan control software issue. I cant find any fan controls in the BIOS tho....
