I have a hard time believing this but in the June issue of Mobile Magazine they did a test and comparison of the Asus Z71V and the Voodoo Envy. Other than the trick paint the units were virtually the same. The Voodoo actually had a slightly faster processor. The Z71V beat the Voodoo in all but one of the test.
Other interesting facts. The Voodoo weighs .2 pound heavier... must be the paint and cost $1400 more... must be the paint.
Anyone interest in gaming with the Z71V should get this issue.

That just shows that the tests they are doing on these systems are bogus. The systems are exact..... I can't see 0.2 pounds being from paint...... (i know the price is because of the paint)... but if the systems were the same it makes no sense. I've seen other magazines do this to identical systems before... just makes you wonder if they pull the numbers out of the air.

I concur. We do alot of benchmarking here. I read the reviews from big name companies who do this for a living and i just dont get where their number are comming from. I learned not to trust them. For the most part ofcourse the reviews must be accurate.

Right, but also realize 99% of the public will buy a Dell because they've heard if you break something they'll replace it without wasting a minute of time on the phone with you....... Those people don't realize those parts shouldn't be breaking down a few times a year and before you know it, the warranty isn't even up and you're buying a new computer. And where do they go... back to dell becasue they took care of their problem so fast... They'll never realize there is something better out there, and THAT is what these magazines are supposed to be helping people find.

    Thanks,

I'm actually surprised voodoo wasn't the one getting the better scores...... Every single magazine that I've dealt with give "unbaised" reviews... but they don't say a word about how the comparisons have to go. We had a review once this time last year where the same reviewer did our M6 and I think a Dell 800 and the reviewer couldn't stop talking about all of the great things about the M6 and all of the bad things about the Dell. The funny thing is, each notebook could only have 2 good and 2 bad points listed...... funny how that makes worse notebooks look better and better notebooks just not stand out. When it came to the comparisons, it was like everyone spanked us. In one account there was a "misprint" with a score which just so happened to be screw up our overall ranking. Two months later when they post their little articles about misprints, we get a little one line note..... If it weren't for that, the M6 would have won the comparison and hands down been realized by many more people at the time.

It's funny that we were up against Dell, Sony, IBM, and HP (i think).... all of which advertise between 1/2 mil and a mil an issue.... It's a complete lie that all of these magazines are "completely" unbiased. If the lives of your employees rested on the backs of advertising dollars and the risk of them pulling out in the case of a horrible review..... you'd find ways around it too, no matter how ethical you were.....

For that reason, we've said heck with magazine reviews all together because the the review could always be good, but only the big time advertisers are going to get the real credit.

    Thanks,
    Justin

I think most people who go to asus already know the facts. Asus is leading the way with support and quality. People dont go to dell for their exceptional support to home buyers unless they are going for the 600$ notebook. The savy notebook user knows exactly what dell and the big names are made of. Unless you bought your dell for a business account and forked out an arm and a leg for their bsuiness grade warranty dont expect to be pleased. people go to asus becuase they do have an exceptional reputation and have many knowledeble dealers who actually give asus the name it relies on. Its a mutual benefit. They make good product we offer even better support. Asus is on its way up and hopefully one day people will realize that. As for the revies. Dont trust em. I have yett to see a review of sponsored product that has been completely honest. Only the consumer can make a honest review. As you can see these forums have tons of em.

Justin are you implying that dell has good onsite support? I know your not. They do if you are business class. I was at intel icc today. It turns out the majority of resellers and the customers who attended hate them with a passion. Read carefully their warranty policy especially the one with an asterisk.

Are you kidding me? Do you think I sold my soul or something?

I'm just saying people who buy dells, without a swift kick to the head, will continue to buy them. Either these people know something the rest of us don't, or they just buy whatever they see on tv... Your guess is as good as mine.

Those ICC shows should be cult meetings against big business.... If I didn't know better, I really would think they are. They're almost like rallies....
