Does anyone have any experience with the ASUS Z81G (Intel) or the Z81K (AMD) laptops? According to the marketing spin on this website http://usa.asus.com/products/notebook/nbindex.htm they are supposed to be the ultra performance machines while the Z71 is a desktop replacement...
Still quite a novice here researching for my first laptop, but the Z71 appears to be better - more RAM, SATA - unless the ATI 9700 is significantly better than the NVIDIA 6600 Express? Or perhaps I have overlooked something else?
Pricing them at RJTech website the Z81s appear to come out about ~$100 less than a Z71.
I am looking for a solid long-lasting laptop that handle all MS Office applications, photoshop, corel draw, and must be able to play the latest games (Doom3, Half-life 2, etc.).

Older technology..... and amd/intel p4 systems verse centrio. The z71v is a much better system and even though I think the Z71v is a plain looking system and is plastic verses the nicer builds of our other laptops....... the Z8 series is a step below. You can't beat the price, and any of them are going to be able to handle everything you want to do and more.... very easily.
