Hi, as the title says I have a Z83V, it has the ATI x700, 2 gigs ram, Win XP home. Bought it 6 months ago, still on warranty. It worked fine up until 2 weeks ago; it locks up hard when playing any 3d games (Civ IV, HOMM V, TW 2006). I tried the usual; video drivers, direct X, system restore to about a month ago, then reinstall windows (though I did not reformat the drive). I think the problem developed after a windows update or when I installed Photodex ProShow Gold.
Anyone know of a testing program that keeps a running log of what its doing, maybe one of the benchmarking programs?
I did bring it to the dealer, but could not reproduce the problem in the limited time I was there. I will go back but I'd like more info so they'll take it seriously and fix it.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

When I had issues with my M6n, I found the easiest way to reproduce the error was to run 3dMark on loop, this maybe a good way to produce the error in a short period while at your dealer.
Also a quick look at the error messages in windows log will quickly show when a crash occured and give some insight into what caused the crash.
Right click my computer>manage> at the top of the left panel is the where you will find system logs

Thanks for the reply. I haven't yet tried any benchmarking programs, I think that will be my next step. Windows doesn't record the error as it locks up solid.
