Does anyone know the difference between these two models? I'm looking into buying the Asus S96J, but I've read that the Z96 is coming out within a month. How is it going to be different?

It looks like the screen, one is WSXGA, the other WXGA, is one main difference.

    Besides that, I'm not sure....

Yah, The Z96 will have a few better components, internal bluetooth, and a WSXGA+ screen, that may be Glossy!

There will be a price difference too, 599-699$ USD for the S96 Barebone. Expect up to 200$ more for the Z96.

There are some pics of the S96, it looks ok...nothing special, to me it looks like an toshiba laptop, because of the colours used.

I do not expect there to be any differences in chasis shape or design for the Z96.

Also, the dimensions have not been given to us yet. So we don't know how thick it is.

I am not sure about the weight, i did read 5.5lbs, BUT i think that was for the Z62 which is for a 14" laptop lol.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

The top cover of the LCD will be also different, the VBI models will allow you to put one more layer on top, so the surface will be different, it works like this:

The weight I got is 2.96kg (S62 is 2.4KG), same LWH with Z96J.

There is a intel authorized guy making the cover, I forgot the name.

See the VBI model, the add on cover will be on the grey/silver part, not on the one inch wide black part.
