I need to replace my DC jack on my Z96J motherboard. I've already taken the mobo out. While looking at the soldered side, I see two solder points on both sides and one on top (edge of case). I see something opposite of the top side that I think is a solder point, but it isn't shiny like the rest. Is this another joint? If so, can I use the same type of solder? What else should I know about this joint?

Also, what are some reputable sites that sell replacement DC jacks?

And one last thing, do I need to replace the compound on the CPU and video processor before I replace the fan/heatsink?

I've used these guys many times and they are reasonably priced and helpful. Shoot them an email to help match the one you need.

Thanks Rocketmech, anymore sound advice? I just emailed the people from that website. Hopefully, they can help. Their prices look nice.

I think that would be a good idea, especially since the computer is not so new.

If replacing the jack itself fails, you can always order an entire mobo off the ASUS eStore, but that's expensive.

Some resellers here may also be able to do the solder themselves, but I am not sure about that.

Can I use any compound on both?
