So, who controls the brightness and volume in the Z96J? I mean when I press Fn+F4, a blue box appears in the corner with the function. But, which software controls that? I wonder if there is a setting area. Mine gets stuck in the corner sometimes, so may be there is an option for it. Or for the minimal level of volume.
    Thanks for the help.

It is a program called HControl.

If you want to remove it then try this, click START, go to RUN... then click the startup tab, now on that tab, disable HControl. then press ok, and restart your laptop.

I don't reccomend disabling it though, I think that I did that one time and the FN+F6-F7-F8 (volume) didn't work. also, i don't believe you can edit the program in any way, as it only runs in the background of your system.

actually i think it all together screws up FN+F6 through F12

Ya it's HControl, buttons such as Power4Gear and other shortcut keys up top also might not work if you disable it. Would be nice if there was a way to disable the display, but all in all I find it useful for me. I've only had it get stuck in the corner once when it was on Vol Control - I flipped my brightness down one then back up and it was gone and worked normally after that.
