I received the laptop on Monday from PowerNotebooks. Today, my laptop just shut off completely and won't turn on again. This has happened a few times with the laptop already. It would start to turn on then just completely shut off. Then if you tried to turn it back on again, there just would be no power. The first time it happened, I waited a minute or two tried to turn it on and it wouldn't work. So then I took out the battery, put it back in and it turned on. Happened a couple times afterwards and sometimes it would just turn on without having to go through the trouble of taking out the battery and turning it on. Another time happened while I was going through the bios. It turned on as usual but when it got to the bios screen, half the monitor was pretty much black while the other half was just dark. Nothing worked at that point so I proceeded to turn off the laptop and turn it back on. Now it happens again, I went into the bios just to look at a few things. Then I turned it off again. A few minutes later, I decide to turn it back on to start using it again and the power just doesn't turn on. I went through the steps I normally took to get it going again, but nothing worked. Is this some kind of Asus safety feature from switching the laptop continuously off and on? Or is there something definitely wrong with my laptop? I will probably call PowerNotebooks technical service to have this problem sorted out. I'm actually hoping that the laptop is actually faulty rather than some weird feature because I really don't want to have to go through the trouble during school while I'm doing homework and such for classes. Until then, anyone know why my laptop is acting this way? This is in no way normal, right?![]()

Looks like either a faulty power switch, best to get it replaced.

I emailed PowerNotebooks.com last night and they called me this afternoon. Now that's what I call service. It turns out that the memory was not fully in. They walked me through the process of taking out the memory and putting it in the second slot and turning on the system. I then proceeded to remove and put it back in the first slot and try again just in case the first slot was faulty. It turned on once again. There was nothing wrong with my laptop, just my loose memory which prevented it from turning on.
