I have had my Z96J for over a year now and have had no problems. Last week I got a blackberry curve phone and it had some software to go with it so you can transfer things between the phone and computer. So I plugged it in and got the prompt to install the software and went through the whole process to get things going. I ordered a micro sd card for the phone and plugged that in. I plugged my phone back into my z96j and that prompt came up again. With the blackberry software on my laptop and my phone plugged in, I was going through where you can add/remove applications from your phone. I didn't change anything and all of the sudden my screen froze and the keyboard wouldn't do anything.
So I powered down my laptop and restarted. It took a few times but then everything came back up and was okay. Then I went back into the software to see if I could figure out what was wrong but then it happened again (when my phone was plugged in). So I powered down again and now whenever I turn on the laptop, I can hear everything running but my screen wont turn on.
I am thinking that it had something to do with my phone being plugged in, and now when I start it maybe my laptop is looking to go to it instead of the screen. I really don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure my screen is okay since after the first time everything worked again and I have never had any problems with it. Anyone have any tips to help me get this back to normal?? I'm getting worried over here..

do you have an external monitor by any chance? if you do, i would suggest plugging it into your notebook to see if your notebook will output to it. if there is nothing, either your gpu is defective, or your have some sort of hardware failure that was triggered by the phone connection.

okay well I don't think my keyboard is working either... :( i plugged in the monitor i use with my desktop but nothing came up and nothing happens when i hit the monitor key (Fn + F3) (i dont know what its called). the other monitor just said no input. could it be that my laptop is looking for input from the usb slot that i connected my phone to before? and what about a startup disk or boot cd? could that do anything?

thanks for the link. i have made progress. It runs now when I take one of my memory chips out but it goes to the windows boot screen, loads a bit, and restarts. So I've made progress. Any tips here? I think I saw something about this loop before so I'm going to do a search but if anyone can beat me to it that would be great.

edit: ive got everything working. thanks for the help
