Does anyone know any more about this machine, or know where I can find some images of it? I'm curious to know what ASUS is hanging their hat on in the 15.4" range.....

    thx

It will have the ATI X1600 and 15.4” WSXGA+ LCD.

C9, do you have any notion as to what the price point of the notebook may be? I'm curious as to if the Z96J may be a BTO counterpart to the Ensemble W3J. Thanks for your patience and help!

The Z96j is 15.4" unlike the 14.1" on the W3j

I heard this model was being replaced by another model in North America... is this true?

This model replaces the Z70 aka M6 series, which will be EOL.

The Z96j IS the model that is replacing the Z92ja which was supposed to fill the gap left by the Z70va.... the Z92ja isn't being brought over anymore and the Z96j isn't expected until April. The Z96j's specs are more similiar to t he outgoing Z70va than they are to what was going to be the Z92ja...... but still an improvement over the current platform. With that said, the price point shouldn't vary much from that of the Z70va.

I look forward to the Z96j. That is the notebook i want to see for potential purchase. My concern is the WSXGA+ screen. My darned aging eyes (youngsters, watch your eyes go south when you hit 40) will probably have problems seeing stuff on the screen. Hmmm...will there ever be a perfect notebook computer? :^)
    Just my thoughts,

I hope they change that to a 256MB x1600. It feels like they're holding back so it doesn't compete with some of the Ensemble notebooks.

If they're holding back I think I gonna get MacBook Pro. Same specs - but available now.
You can run Windows XP on Mac now, officially.....

I wish I didn't have to do this , but Asus leaves me no choice :-(

i had those exact same thoughts.....but read the fine print regarding the functionality of XP on the macbook......it doesn't fully support NTFS, many of the nice functions of the macbook won't work, there are speaker/headphone issues, etc, etc.....basically, don't plan on using a macbook for doing anything serious (or fun for that matter)

....so i guess we're still at the mercy of ASUS :)
