Ok I have a z96js and have had a problem for about 3 weeks now where my wireless adapter is being shut off sometimes after being online for a couple of minutes and sometimes after longer amounts of time. I try to turn it back on but my Intel controller or my Windows Wireless 2 controller won't let me turn it back on. The only way I can get the adapter back on is to boot back up. It can't be an issue where I'm just not getting service because my buddy in the next room hasn't had any connections problems.

I have also had a problem for about the same amount of time where everytime I boot back up, I automatically get an error message that says Hcontrol.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close which shuts all of my hotkeys off so I have no wireless on/off hotkey. Its hard to find a link between the 2 problems because even when my Hcontrol.exe is shut off, I still have wireless for a couple of minutes sometimes.

A third kind of weird problem happening is sometimes my connections tray freezes up and won't allow me to access Start, or my icons. Also when I pull up my device manager, it will freeze up too. I have also had programs freeze up when I'm installing them.

Steps I have taken to try to solve these issues are as follows:

    1. Uninstalling and reinstalling my ATK0010 driver from my driver CD that came with my computer.

    2. Uninstalling and reinstalling my Intel driver from my driver CD that came with my computer.

    3. Uninstalling and reinstalling my Wireless Lan driver from my driver CD that came with my computer.

    4. Uninstalling old driver and installing new ATK0010 driver from Asus website.

    5. Uninstalling old Intel driver and installing new Intel driver from Asus website.

    6. Uninstalling old wireless lan driver and installing new wireless lan driver from Asus website.

    7. System restore twice ( the first to a week before problems, the second to 2 weeks before problems.)

Please if you have any more suggestions or places I can go for help it would be very appreciated.

Also who else should I mention these problems too?

    Thanks

It could be BIOS related, if the hardware is shutting off. Look there, but I don't have a Z96, so I don't know.

I downloaded a BIOS driver update from the Asus website. How simple is it to install and what steps should I take before I do so?

If all else fails I can reload Windows, but I have never done a windows reinstall so I want to try everything else before I just have to.

    Thanks Caleb
