I realize there is a thread for the Asus ultrabook series (Ivy Bridge Zenbook with FHD IPS screen UX21A UX31A UX32A UX32VD). However, there is already so much material in that thread that it is difficult to find answers about a single issue.

So, here's the question, is it possible to turn off keyboard backlighting on those ultrabook and have the computer remember it! I know about Fn F3 to turn down keyboard backlight but it keeps coming back. I'd like to be able to turn it down to minimize battery usage (while having it available if/when I need it).

    Thanks.

Turn off Ambient Light Sensor, FN + A. That should do the trick because the sensor turns the backlighting on when it sees you're in the dark.

Yes, good idea. I will lose the automatic adjustment of the screen as well though, right?

Yes, but if you keep it on the lowest (like me) it will stay that way and you can just adjust it whenever. I keep it at the lowest to save battery life and turn it up if I ever need to.

I will try that and see how it works for me; I'm at 20% screen backlight now and it's OK but I am in the evening. Thanks.
