Hi, there guys as you all know the zenbook prime has very little amount of free space, how would gaming or watching movies from an external hard drive 3.0 sound? Anyone have experience with gaming on an external hard drive? I am thinking of purchasing a 3.0 Western Digital My Passport 1TB hard drive to watch my movies and play some games off of it on my zenbook cause I am running out of space!

It's more ideal to use the external purely for storage rather than running programs off of it. Even with USB 3.0 speeds, you will see not-so-great performance if you're trying to run games and movies from it. This is why an ideal setup for performance and storage is to have either a secondary, internal or external HDD for the larger storage capacity at a lower cost than SSDs, while a SSD is installed as the primary drive for programs and OS.

Is there any type of comparison or you know an estimate at the cost of performance? I am really wanting to purchase an external HD 3.0 for it because I have $20 credit on JR, and they don't charge tax and I can get one for $60 or 70 depending if I buy the element or my passport version.

Movies will not be a problem, especially over USB3.0. For games, expect not so great loading times depending on the game and some games may not like being run off an external, you'll have to ty it on a case by case basis. I've ran MMOs off externals in the past without any issues.
