I've heard that Zenbook Primes have user-serviceable SODIMMs, unlike most Ultrabooks which have the RAM soldered onto the motherboard. Is this true? Also, what is the maximum amount of RAM supported?

Depends upon the model. The UX31A is soldered to the board, and not upgradeable. The UX32VD, on the other hand, has 2gb soldered to the board, and a standard SODIMM which contains a 2gb stick by default, but can be upgraded from there.

That's good to know. Thanks
As a follow-up question, do you know whether or not the UX32VD's SSD cache is mSATA and/or upgradeable? I was initially more interested in the UX31A and its spacious SSD, but if I can cram a 128/256 GB Crucial M4 or Samsung PM830 into the UX32VD, it'd be even better than the UX31A. -

UX32VD is the only one you may upgrade to the RAM.

I have heard differing reports on how the SSD is installed in the UX31a. Some have said it is soldered down, while some say it is just screwed in. The common thread though, is that it is not a standard mSATA, but a proprietary connector. We may eventually see replacements if the same form factor is used in more models, but as of now it is not upgradeable.
The UX32vd, again, has the advantage in being upgradeable. The conventional hard drive can be swapped out for an SSD. I think the options are restricted to either using a 7mm thickness drive, or removing a regular thickness SSD from its enclosure. There are many guides on youtube. Overall, if you can afford it, and you don't mind a little extra thickness, the UX32vd is more upgradeable, and more powerful (with the nvidia 620m).
