I received my Zenbook UX32VD yesterday and was really looking forward to it. This is my 3rd Asus notebook/ultrabook so I know that I need to wipe the hdd and do a clean install....done! I'm running Win7 Ultimate/64.
I love the IPS screen and the touchpad works really well. I like everything about it except the noise! The fan is constantly running even at almost complete idle and the machine feels warm. If I can't figure out a solution to the fan noise, unfortunately it's going back. Does anyone have this problem?

I ordered 2 from Amazon. They were identical, except that one had this annoying fan problem, the other didn't. The one that had it went straight back, the other never exhibited anything of the sort. Send it back.

When I got mine last Friday l had horrible fan problems, the fan was running full speed constantly. I tried all i could come up with, downgrade firmware to 203, made no difference... upgraded back to 206 and reset bios, then the fan turned off but spun up to full speed every time I did anything, and completely off in between.

I talked to asus this Monday, they told me to return it because rhey thought it was hw error...

Contacted the reseller to return it on Tuesday. But on Wednesday everything became normal.?! The fan is spinning the way you would expect it to, i tried to force it with high cpu load, but it is silent and the fan is on but and changing speed depending on load, but never full speed.
Since then the computer has been perfect
I thought it was software error from the start, but this weird behavior... I really hope next bios/driver will solve this once and for all.

I'm glad to hear that your problem seemed to resolve itself...
I've tried everything that I know & I think it boils down to some kind of hardware issue. I called the seller today and asked for a replacement. They gave me an RMA number so unless it "fixes itself" over the weekend, I'm returning it and keeping my fingers crossed that a replacement will fix this issue...
I was so looking forward to upgrading the SSD & the RAM on this machine...

Read in the long thread avbout the ux32 that someone uninstalled intel dynamic platform thermal framework and got rid of the fan noise, might be worth a shot?
You can always download it again fron asus homepage

I actually uninstalled it myself just to see what happened
First impression is that the fan is running at a constant fairly low speed, but have only been using it for 2 minutes after reboot...

My fan ramps up only after resuming from sleep, mellows out after 30-60 seconds. Annoying but I fully expect this to be resolved with a patch in the future. Otherwise the laptop is not hot, sits on my lap without issues.

Have you tried unistalling the Intel dynamic thermal app i mentioned above? I think that might be the culprit

I hope this thread is still active.

I have the same issues with my UX32A despite updating BIOS through Asus Live Update. Fan acts very erratic
and spins at full speed regardless of it being idle, very strange. I'm going to call Asus Customer Support tomorrow
because the fan should not be acting this way.

Hi, is this thread still active? My UX32VD was fine and fabulously silent until this afternoon. The fan got really loud. I think something's wrong. I didn't drop it or anything, it's just been on maybe for 7 hours? Anyone else had the same problem?

I can confirm that the ux32vd becomes rly hot at times, and this reduces performance. I'm currently checking out forums like this for info. My UX32VD is getting to hot, slows down, fan running "prematurely" and there are some wifi problems all of the sudden. Does anyone got anything new to add on this matter? How is ASUS responding to this issue? Answers would be much appreciated.
