Am I the only one having this problem.. my trackpad no longer has that "matte" texture in the middle, instead now its slippery and oily from oils from my hand. But even when I wipe it its still extra smooth in the middle - looks like the texture has deteriorated. The edges of the trackpad are still "rough" and good. But the middle is now extra smooth, and its affecting my touch pad overall since it doesn't detect some light & brief movements.

I see a lot of worn trackpads. How long have you had the notebook? And in that time frame, how often did you use it?

I bought it in around July/August, so I've only had it for around 4 months now. I use it a lot, daily, maybe 8-10 hours a day as I need it primarily for school.

If you're using it that much, then yes; you're spot on about the oils in your fingers wearing away the texture. It's kind of a bummer that it got worn in such a short time frame, but then again - 8 to 10 hours a day will do that! It will still work, although the detection may become poor over time. You may want to consider a wireless mouse.

Gotchu. I will pop a fresh battery in my wireless mouse and use that form now on.
