Zephyrus Duo GX550LXS Severe Latency issues caused by CPU

Hello, I recently bought the Asus Zephyrus Duo 15 and wanted to give Asus another chance after 8 years of avoiding them like the plague.

And, I should have continued, after testing my laptop just a few hours after getting it in the post, its showing severe latency problems, I tried to update just about every driver and even updated Windows from 1909 as its known **** version to the better 20H2, it "helped" but the latency problem is still there.

Its so bad its literally stuttering in games so bad and the audio cuts out, I tried reinstalling the GPU driver but its very much not a GPU problem.

My Specifications are:
i7-10750h
2080 Super Max-Q 100W

If I remember they put liquid metal on the CPU, now my first clue is that the CPU has gotten damage from liquid metal damage, but I cannot open it to confirm as it would be harder to return.
I noticed that if I put it on the "silent" power plan the stutter issue is less severe as it appears quite noticeable in YouTube playback with the usual audio symptoms.
Its FAR more severe in "performance" power plan.

I am literally at a loss, I am asking here on this forum as a last resort to see if its just a software issue, I used latencymon and applied different workloads on it to measure what caused the stutter and audio issues, during very heavy CPU loads it appears the most with latencies up in almost 2 seconds, thats horrible!

The CPU also gets SERIOUSLY hot doing just YouTube LOL, is that normal from an Intel processor? Its been a while since I used Intel.
In Notebookreview own test on the Zephyrus Duo 15 its getting a very bad latency reading already compared to the competition but mine is so bad that playing YouTube is not doable since its so much audio issues duo to the latency.

Does anyone have any similar experience? Am I just unlucky? This is not the first time I bought Asus and had problems, its like a re-occurring problem, my last one was an Asus GPU for a friend, that one exploded (literally) I am sorry if this sounds like a rant, I am not trying to make it, its just annoying when you pay so much money you would at least expect it to work flawlessly out the box.

Laptop was returned two weeks ago, they received it and basically just refunded me, then a few days later it was put up on sale as a DEMO product with one more, so they got two DEMO ones up for sale suggesting I was not the only one with the problem. LOL
In one review posted by some guy a few days ago was complaining about lag and stutter in games on his unit on the very site I got it on, factory installed liquid metal = bad idea it seems.

Most likely had serviced considering how long it took for them to respond to me on the return case, Asus quality at its finest I guess.
Or some of us are just incredibly unlucky but even so, a laptop of this price tag should work like out the box.
Hopefully the new SE 2021 model has no such issues.

I just wanted to create this post in case someone out there has similar issues and wondering if they should see a doctor or open a lawsuit, worry not its the latter.

 

Glad you got a refund. I guess these things happen, although have not heard about it on the Zephyrus Duo. I wonder if the Ryzen 5900HX models have these issues. Reviews have been great so far.

 

I think the Zephyrus Duo was first gen Asus with liquid metal application, and the fact the machine probably been sitting in storage for a long time with the laptop in a not so good position, its not unlikely that this position has caused some liquid metal from leaking out and contaminating the board.

People have these issues when they apply liquid metal on their own computers, hopefully their Ryzen models should have vastly better sealing around the chip to prevent any such thing from happening.

Yea, Ive been a bit weary on putting liquid metal pastes myself, let alone...Some factory worker putting it on.
Glad you were able to get your money back at least...I've heard some horror stories with Asus Customer Service and their refund policies.
