thats not a trick that is a solution for a hardware problem. i dont see why you would want to do this on a notebook that should be under warranty from your dealer unless you got no dealer warranty. this is a known issue and if you purchased the notebook assembled your dealer should have checked for this

How about booting into windows? it freezes before you even get the option to change it.

Unless your talking about changing the default from powersave to standard when on battery, if thats the case enlighten me and others on how to do so.

My problem is I can not boot from battery mode when I use my 2gb sodimm, only AC power will work. It freezes as windows loads.

If i take out the 2gb stick and use my 1gb one instead it works fine. Its obviously a ram incompatibility. The ram is perfectly fine, its even a nice micron IC, just Asus's infernal machine has the worst compatibility ever for some reason. If it works on AC but not battery then its gotta be the power save mode that is causing the issue.

the change in voltage it the issue there its not the power safe its the actual mainboard. f07 revision has similar issues but works with ram that did not work on previous versions

And they cant change that at the bios level??? thats piss poor.

And yes I knew it was a voltage issue, the idea is less voltage = saving power thus power save.

I do remember faintly testing for voltage changes in windows between the different modes and dont recall there being any difference between the different turbo gear modes.

I believe i got the F06 MB revision.... Does this mean I have no chance of utilizing 3gb of RAM for my c90 ?

I haven't checked what MB version I have, but I'm pretty sure its the older one (the F06 maybe?) since I pre-ordered mine before the c90s came out. However, I haven't had any issues with crashing with my 3gb ram. I can boot just perfectly on battery too. Some people reported having crashed on gaming or overclock mode but everything works fine for me.

you willnot have any issues as long as you purchased the ram from a vendor who checked it for compatibility or if you happen to be lucky enough to buy loose ram that is compatible

40 minutes? I'm getting 1:30 on power saving and 1:15 on normal mode. If I set viista to high performance I get 1 hour.

My battery does not crash. I haven't checked wich version I got. I bought it in september but the manufacturing date on stickers says March 07 so....

Hey, just like this, on asus website I recorded it as bought on september 10th, but will I need to ship the receipt with it if I ship it to asus, like, this summer?

Got C90S problems? RMA! dont wait for Asus "fixes" or "tricks". Even if you do "fix" or "trick" it, whose to say the problem wont come back after a bios upgrade or new driver or from good ole TIME. Laptops are supposed to work as they should. Its not up to users to fix problems or dive through piles of ram to get it to run correctly.
