Hi everyone, I have a ASUS a7t and recently it started locking totally and when I shut it down it just goes to blank screen. if I restart several times it sometimes starts up or freezes when the ASUS pops up at start up. Now it seems that when I add a second monitor it helps it start up. The first time that it froze was right after it detected the second monitor and I choose to mirror screens. But since then I've went into the nvidia control panel and made the laptop screen the default it works for awhile then freezes or when I shut it down its hard to start again. if anyone could help i would surely appreciate it. thx

I tried it and its still does the same when at start up. I also tried starting up without a hard drive installed and it still acts the same, sometimes the screen stays blank, sometimes it goes as far as the Asus and halfway threw the word asus it freezes, sometimes it loads all the way threw to the choose bootable device but in all cases the system is really slow. it does the same with HD installed but if it gets vista started then it acts normal.

Download memtest86+ and run it through at least one full pass. Maybe your RAM is to blame.
