i have an unattended system CD/DVD that i'd like to use to do a custom install and although I've used it several times to reconfigure my own desktop, I am a little leery of using it with the laptop because of all the unknown components.

    Questions/Assumptions:
    1. Any missing/outdated drivers not provided by windows I could just use the recovery CD.

    2. How come the primary hard drive has two partitions?

    3. I see a third 1.8GB hidden RECOVERY partition and was wondering what might be on it. I was thinking a copy of Windows XP. Or perhaps it's needed to use the recovery CDs. I suppose I could image the partition and explore it when I have the time. Should I keep the RECOVERY partition?

Reason I am doing this is so I can install all my programs unattended, I also won't have to convert to an NTFS file system since I'll repartion the drive as NTFS.

I'm already in the process of imaging (bit-level) the OEM configuration of the hard drive just in case of disaster but I'll also be creating a custom unattended DVD just for the laptop.

the recovery partition is basically the recovery disc and drivers disc..... so incase you lose those, you can hit F7 I think on startup and run the recovery........ if you want to get rid of those, I don't think you can use the recovery disc, becasue that's going to want to set it up a certain way.......... but, the drivers come on a seperate disc, so you could just pull the drivers off that disc.

    Thanks,
