I’m a proud owner of a Z71V since April of last year. Not one problem/issue/crash between now and then. I would like to keep my Z, but there are new latest and greatest laptops coming out. I was wondering what line of laptops does Asus make that have metal cases. The reason I’m asking I have been a bit rough on my Z and I want to get a tougher laptop that can take my slight abuse. Don’t get me wrong my Z is GREAT in taking what I can dish, but this silly plastic shell, needs to be upgraded to a aluminum case. I don’t plan to sell my Z when I get my new Asus, I’m going to keep in the family and give to my sister and brother in-law. Any ideas of a model series that has metal cases as a standard shell material? Oh, also I’m going to lean towards a slim/light weight laptop, < 4.5 lbs.

    Thanks…
    -Hector

The W3J will survive just fine. The V6 is also well built, and so as the V1JP.

Sounds like you need a panasonic toughbook or a thinkpad.

Check into the V series, as was suggested. They are built well, and the V2 might be just what you are looking for.
