After reading the announcement today, I am a bit worried about purchasing the W3J/V6J. I guess I could wait if i had to until the fall when intel comes out with their 64 bit processers. Is there much of a difference between the core duo and the intel 64 bit processors?
A question just as important is whether asus will have notebooks with the intel 64 bit processor before next feburary. Februray is my deadline when I have to get a notebook and cannot wait any longer. If asus doesnt have any by feb., I dont care then Ill buy a W3J/V6J cuz I only buy asus.
Like I said I can wait but I would really like to have it now (obivously).

turion x2 slated for release in 9th of may.
they sound like pretty sweet products really.
quick question: turions are not on 65nm, are they? so does that mean they're not as portable as intel machines? -
The one on the main page.

Darn a second too slow. lol

wahaha..
u read it tim?
what do u think? -
Larger die size usually means more power consumption, and most times more heat.
There will always be something better coming long, especially right after you fork out a couple g's. I say stick with what is available, and what works today. You'll definetly be happy with it. -
Meh, there's always going to be something new coming out so I say just go with the W3J/V6J if you want.
Can't keep up with technology.
Cheers,

It has been said many times on these forums and I believe it 100% (and tell my boss the SAME THING)
If you need a laptop now, buy one now. If you don't, then wait. But if you keep waiting for the next new tech, you will never have a laptop.
I am a AMD fanboy. I love AMD - any system I build myself has an AMD CPU in it. That said, Intel makes some great low-power, low-heat CPUs for laptops and since you are talking about PORTABLE laptops (W3J and V6J) - there won't be a great AMD X2 laptop with comparable battery life, weight, etc. -
Yea, that's how technology is, you can never be up to date. Waiting just results in more waiting, resulting in more waiting. You'll end up being more stressed, tired and annoyed then in the begining!

When the 64 bit stuff comes out it isn't going to magically and instantly be of use for full potential. It will take time for Vista and Programmers to utilize 64 bit to its potential. I would say it will take at least 2+ years before you see 32bit slowly get fazed out. Don't worry about buying a 32 bit processor laptop now it will be very useful for a long time. The 64 bit stuff is just starting and honestly if Vista comes out this year I will be surprised. Next year is when 64 bit applications are going to start to trickle into the market.

While it's no guarantee, I think it's likely that we'll be able to swap in a Merom processor in place of the current Yonahs if you desperately need 64-bit, but that will not be for a while. 64-bit will need time to really take off, and even then it won't be absolutely necessary.
