    annoying near silent beeping noise

    there is an annoying but very very silent beeping noise emitted from my laptop. it's like morse code. I don't know what it is! any idea? sometimes it's not on but other times it is..

    Has to be the hdd, cpu, or a fan. those are the only 3 things that are on/off and can make noise that I can think of.

    Could also be the BIOS, maybe? Try perform a system restore, reinstall your OS and/or reset your BIOS with the reset button located underneath your notebook.

    hmm..dunno if your asus has the same problem as the g50's...do you have a usb device plugged in when you hear this beep?

    Judging from the description, this is the "Core duo CPU whine". A Google should clarify what that is. There are workarounds, but they have their drawbacks.
