the upper right hand fan in my w3j spins up every 5 minutes even when i'm doing normal desktop activities, and is rather loud.
in a quiet library setting, it's obnoxious...
even when it battery saving mode and all the power settings are set real low, it spins up, though later than plugged in mode.
what can i do to increase the normal speed of the fan so that the CPU would stay cooler? or.... perhaps undervolting the CPU could help not heat up so much?
what are my options?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
First thing to do would be to clean out your fan and radiator fins - fan spin up is a dependent on internal temps. That might solve your problem.

Yeah was gonna say get a cooling pad. If the laptop stays cooler the fans wont come on as much. Plus like ClearSkies said if you get dust buildup it effects temps quite alot and so you need to clean out heatsinks and fans on a semi regular basis.
Another thing is that if you use it in your lap (you said library so maybe you are) you block the vents most probably and that will make things heat up very fast, and possibly over heat, a cooling pad solves this problem too, especially one that is designed to pull air from the back or side of the unit instead of from underneath. All while giving you a solid surface and nice keyboard tilt to type on.
What cooling pad did you end up getting by the way?
any tips for shutting up the W3J fan?
