Are these guys actually affiliated with Asus? I'd rather buy from Milestone or ProPortable, but my clients has his heart set on WinXP on his new R1F.

estore.asus.com has it for a good price, but I'm VERY suspicious (esp. with my client's credit card!)

    Thx,

    D

Wow, I didn't know they sold notebooks too. I knew they sold parts, as I bought a keyboard replacement myself last year.

As for the site, its legit, its ASUS themselves running it IIRC.

After my warranty ran out, I bought a replacement battery for my W3V. I had no issues.

I also ordered a bluetooth module from the eStore for my Z63a, and it came in about a week. They forgot to send the bluetooth antenna and I e-mailed them about that... they agreed that it was supposed to come with the module, so they mailed it to me right away :)

No complaints whatsoever from me. Pretty good, in fact.

I don't know, their site is kinda shady since it has an expired certificate or something like that. Also when you try to pay with a credit card they send you to a weird third party site.

I bought a keyboard almost 2 and half weeks ago from estore.asus and it still hasn't even shipped yet. I just talked to the sales rep there for the second time, and for the second time they said they don't know why it hasn't shipped yet and that I should get it tomorrow.

It seems like other people have had positive experiences and it does indeed seem like a legit website since I've been able to call them and talk to them, but they really screwed up my order and even though they managed to charge my credit card two days after ordering its been 2 weeks and they still haven't managed to ship anything.

ok ... so here's MY experience with estore.asus.com.

I ordered the R1F unit with XP last Tuesday. Paid extra for 2nd shipping - to be shipped directly to my client. By last Friday, the unit had not arrive, which made me a little angry. By this AM (Monday) I was getting hotter. I called them using a phone number from an email I had received for a query about the web site. I was told that a) The unit had not shipped, b) the deal was for Microsoft employees only, and c) they had no idea how I had even placed the order. I pointed out that at the time of purchase I had no idea that this was an employee purchase program. Indeed, if the process had simply kicked me out at the time of purchase, I would have saved a week of lost time and could have bought from another vendor. The supervisor was completely unsympathetic, bordering on hostile and suspicious ("How did you find this link?").

So I'm stuck with a ticked-off client (deservedly so), I've lost a week of very valuable time, and I doubt that I can get him his R1F in time for his trip Wednesday.

I <s>gotta</s> give them thumbs down, <s>but probably share the blame for not researching the company more in depth</s>. Thanks to all who helped. I will never buy ANYTHING from estore.asus.com.

I wouldn't be so mad at them, someone did point out that it was on an Employee Purchase Program site.

Unfortunately, it was after I "purchased" the machine ... and the poster only speculated that it was employee purchase only (admittedly, my interpretation).

Regardless, the onus was on estores.asus.com to verify correct identity at the time of purchase -- not a week after the fact and only after the customer called to determine status. You gotta give me that .... you can't blame the customer for "finding" a website that seems to sell merchandise as a regular e-vendor -- can you?

Just a follow up on my earlier post, I did eventually get my keyboard, two and a half weeks after my credit card was charged. They did upgrade me to overnight shipping for free and they do have rather good customer service since each time I called (3 times) I was able to talk to a customer service rep almost immediately and didn't have to wait on hold for very long. The problem however, seems that they don't seem too reliable in terms of processing orders and shipping them out quickly.

Would I buy something from estore.asus again? Probably...but only something like a laptop keyboard or another part that I wouldnt be able to find any where else.

I just received a battery that I ordered for my Asus Z63A. I must say that it has either been used or has expired or something, because its holding charge is less than 2 hours. Anyone that has a similar notebook knows that these things should last for well over 3 hours. Do you guys know a number that I can contact the Asus eStore because I sent a msg through their "Contact Us" form, but I doubt that I'll get a reply?

Batteries don't have a long shelf life. Plus the fact that the Z63A came out well over a year and a half ago...

I would call their RMA department and send it back. Or maybe it needs to be discharged/recharged a few times (not characteristic of Li-Ion batteries, but worth a try)...

Well, if you're not buying through regular channels and you can't guarantee it, the onus would have to be on you for trying to sell it to a customer in the first place.

Also, note: contract of adhesion on the bottom of the website. They technically don't owe anyone anything:

However, we are not to be held responsible for any grammatical errors, typo errors, non-notification of price changes, or technical errors. If there are products listed on our site and ordered at an incorrect price, we reserve the right to cancel said orders, limit the quantity ordered of any specific item or require additional information for verification purposes at any time, for any reason. We reserve the right to make price adjustments without notice at any time and is non-negotiable. Inventory status may change as other orders are processed, before your order is confirmed. If your card has been charged, and we choose to cancel your order, your credit card will be credited the original charged amount.
