    1. Macbook Pro has issues with overheating (yes, it's been addressed, but still).
    2. Mac hardware is still way more expensive for an equivalent machine.

That's what comes to mind immediately... although I did consider the Macbook Pro before I found the W3J.

The lack of Apple's future support for Vista, the pricing of macbooks, and god-only-knows what issues will crop up running dual-boot makes it an easy choice to me.

If you really need the MacOS, then it's also an easy choice the other way. But the 'boot camp' is still beta, so don't get too far ahead of yourself.

Well the current macbook and w3 are in my mind different machines. Mainly due to the size difference. ie 15"widescreen vs 14". Thus I see the w3 just on the side of mobility, while the macbook is on the side of dtr. A better comparison would be the w1 vs macbook.
all in all it really comes down what you plan on using you laptop for. As far as I know, the main obstical with XP on the mac is still drivers, this mainly will effect gamers. So if you plan on playing 3D games then stick with the pc's at least for now. If your gonna be doing mainly office work then go the mac

According to the Mac website, when you run the Boot Camp software, it creates a CD with all the drivers for Windows to use the Mac specific hardware. Of course, I can't verify the reliability of these drivers, but they say they have them.

The MacBook Pro has a larger footprint due to the larger screen, but weighs about the same (can people feel a 0.1lb difference?) and it's thinner. Higher res screen too so you can actually fit more with the larger screen. I suppose the real Asus competitor to the MacBook Pro will be the V1J, but that's not due to arrive till the summer right?

One plus with the W3j will be the optional secondary battery that'll extend by another 2 hours.
