I bought my daughter this laptop about 3 years ago. She has a cooler and performs regular cleaning but is concerned about an increase in operating temp. The laptop is running in the 68 to 75f range. I would like to find out what a normal range is for this laptop. I have read some of the posts about the fan building up dirt and lint even with regular cleaning, and if she needs to access the fans does anybody have a link to a detail manual.

That's not too bad, you should get concerned if it idles 80+ Celsius and load temp is over 90C for a long time. If the temps are higher now it's probably because the thermal paste or thermal pad is breaking down. You are out of warranty by now so any qualified repair person can redo the thermal paste for you. It's easy enough to do yourself if you are comfortable with computer hardware. Again this is not a concern at all if your temps aren't 90+ into the 100C range under load.

If you are idling on that temperature range then I would not suggest running very processor or graphics heavy programs. I've found that temperatures usually shoot up about 30c when running the processor or video card at or near 100% load.

I have the manual on pdf. email me and i will send it to you. also, you can probably help me out.. or anyone reading that owns this laptop can.

i bought it from someone who lost the bottom cover - the one that covers the cpu/heatsink fan and memory. i need someone to remove their cover from the asus m70vm and tell me the asus part number so i can buy a replacement !

    thanks

If it's anything like my N50Vn, i hit around 60C max under heavy load on the CPU and 70C on the GPU at 23C ambient temperature. At idle, the CPU is usually 35-40C and the GPU in the 40-45C range.

    Current: 24C amb
