Some internet stores in my area sell this item in the white color with almost the same specs like the black one ( I5 2430 not the 2410 any difference ??? , 4 GB RAM but 750 GB 7200 RPM tho instead of the 650 GB 5400 RPM ).
I was just wondering about the color , is it the same matiral as the black one ?
    any worries about peeling ?
I much admit it's look much better in white than the black.
I was looking on youtube, but didnt find a video who shows the white version :( ... can anyone post high quality pics ?
and my last question is, I heard some has problem with the fan, is it common ? I don't want a computer that is noisey and getting heat up while only surfing,
on the other hand , I read some reviews who calim that this laptop is pretty cool while on idle or surfing the net .

I have a white U36SD sitting beside me. I'll post pictures up when I can.

The bottom does get warm when surfing, but it wouldn't be too annoying. The palmrest part of the laptop feels relatively cool, but I haven't subjected it to any strenuous tests. The fan is fairly quiet under normal use (ball-parking, 60~70dB), but it'll be a bit loud when you game.

The biggest problem I have with this laptop is its inability to swap out the hard drive without voiding your warranty, and the 5400RPM HDD came with the laptop is extremely slow.

Thank you for quick reply, do you think this computer is durable ?
Since it's getting heat up only from surfing. I'm worried about heat stuff
Since I had hp envy 15 and I couldn't put it on my lap and after 6 month the gpu got destroyed .
Btw , how is it with 720p or 1080 , is the fan goes loud ? Is heat up like crazy ?

You can swap the hdd for an ssd no problems with the warranty. I already had to send my u36sd to replace the touchpad. I had swapped my hdd with an ssd. Before you send it in just make sure you put the original hdd back in the computer. I had no issues what so ever. This was in Canada so YMMV

I am also in the process of buying a portable notebook, and was wondering how does it handle photoshop, lightroom or/and autocad, regarding heat and the resulting noise?

heat in general for this laptop is a non issue IMO. People that say that the laptop heats up and the fan spins loudly are plain wrong. If the laptop is idle or just web surfing etc., the laptop is very quiet and runs pretty cool. If you use it on your lap you will have no issues at all. While gaming the fan is noticeably loud. It kicks in at high speed the entire time you are playing the game. The laptop heats up, but you can still use it on your lap. There are no throttling issues that i have noticed either. The games i have tried are: Portal, Half-life 2, Counter-Strike Source, Deus ex, and Battlefield 3 beta. The source games ran really well with better than average fps (~70). Battlefield 3 ran only at ~20-30fps along with deus ex.

For everyday tasks i find that this laptop suits my needs perfectly. (engineering student)

I would recommend taking a look at the white U36 in person before purchasing. Asus picked a really "bright" white for the U36 and to me, it did not look as nice as the black version. Kind of reminded me of a toy.

I also don't know how resistant the white version is to dirt and marks.
