wow, now here's what i've been waiting for (specs-wise anyways):
    http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5970.html

    and pics here:
    http://www.infosyncworld.com/productguide/image.php?manufacturer=ASUS&name=ASUS%20A6K&image_type=p&number=3

here's a basic rundown of the highlights:
    - amd 64-bit turion 25w or 35w procs (or 32-bit semprons)
    - up to 2gb ddr333
    - 15" (4:3) or 15.4" (16:9)
    - XGA/SXGA (4:3) or WXGA/WSXGA+ (16:9)
    - 256 MB Nvidia GeForce Go6200 chip (for the WSXGA+ only)
    - 1.3 MP camera above the display (video conferencing)
    - size: 354 x 284 x 23 mm (wonder if this is a mistake -- .9" thin - that's thinner than my ibm t40p)
    - weight: 2.8 KG (that's 6.17 lbs - about the same weight as mine too)
    - no details on price or batt-life

justin, i realize this news announcement just came out today, but any word you get on this model (the fully decked out version), i'd be very interested in hearing more. thanks.

Just to give you an idea...... the A6u's showed up today..... they run seperons or turions but have integrated graphics and a WXGA screen.

The A6k with a WSXGA and nvidia 6200..... That hasn't be released yet, but it should be almost the same color and everything that the A6u is. Also, not sure about that 256mb video... the dedicated card is only 64mb.... the rest of that ram is shared from the rest of the system.

    Thanks,
    Justin

hrm, a6u huh? is the size and weight the same as the a6k? i'd looking for a solid thin & light athlon64 laptop and chances are slim lenovo's going to stray from pentium m's.

Is this forthcoming A6K (with dedicated graphics) an ensemble notebook?

Nice specs.. and the laptop is also very nice looking.
I wonder how the 2 gig turion holds up to a 2 gig centrino?

I read somewhere that the centrino is still the mobil processor of choice??

as far as batt-life goes, yeah, i think pentium m's still win out, but i've found that i actually use my laptop plugged in most of the time, so something w/ a little more processing power would do me well.

and yes, i've considered dtr notebooks.. sure, when you're stationary, the few extra pounds won't matter, but trust me.. travelling a lot w/ your notebook, and you'll find that those extra pounds will start to matter.

    6.2lbs and the vid card is a 6200 =
Other than that a very interesting computer. If it had a 6600 it'd give the Z71V a serious run for its money.
