when i unplug my laptop from ac power, the screen turns off for less than a split second and turns back on. why does it do that? and when i plug it back in, it does the same thing. i tried it both from the ac adapter and the direct plug behind the laptop. nothing serious, im just curious if anyone else does that.

It does the same for my ASUS W3J.Because the laptop is switching from a power source to another and it cannot risk the both connected to the laptop even for a second. For me it sometimes disconnects from dial up for example.I prefer not to let it heppen. So I usually hibernate and then connect the AC.

Right. You have to recall that when it switches over to battery power... the screen must adjust to using battery and so it will dim itself accordingly. I'm sure it's nothing serious at all.. just the computer going into a more energy efficient state.

ohh thanks for the heads up... got a new question... how come when i turn on the computer, it will go from the blue window's welcome screen then to my desktop and while all the corner icons are loading up, the screen will turn off and on for a split second. any ideas y it turns off and on? to add another question.. when i push my power button to turn on the laptop from shut down, it will sometimes take a good second or two to actually respond. why is that? thanks for the replies
