I currently own an asus s96j, and while the performance has been great, the service amazing (powernotebooks is more than i could ever ask from a company), and overall the build has been worth what i paid for it, it is not what i expected from asus.
In short i expected something much better from asus, more rigid, something to be more proud of.
Now im looking at asus's again, their style, performance for size, build quality and warranty are just too much to resist.
My question is though, as im looking at the m50sv-a1, and the F8sn-b1 (i would really like that graphics card) is if the build on the newer consumer grade models (those that are plastic not metal and carbon composite)has improved or if ill be dissapointed if buy anything that is not business grade.
I noticed that the hinges seem to be a much more durable design, and the chassis now resembles the hp consumer line which got so many good reviews for their chassis, i just do not want to find myself once again wishing i had spent the bit more to buy the business line (still kicking myself for not getting the w3)

Hi, first post.
Well so far the F8 doesn't seem to have any design flaws or anything so it looks pretty safe and it's been out for around 4-5 months? I've got a F3SV and it got the crack (sigh, plastic) so I can see where your coming from. The M50sv is pretty new so reliability is pretty out there, but I suspect it's very similar to the F8 (they look very similar) so I doubt there'll be any cracks. I'm also looking into the f8sn. I've seen it/held it and it felt pretty sturdy. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
asus consumer line build?
