I'm pretty sure I read on this site that ASUS doesn't post info on the various updates.

Usually they are very cryptic, and the description you get on the site (if any) is all you get. For example:

so if worst comes to worst i can just roll back the driver if the new (mysterious) one has problems?

If you do not want the worst, do not rush to update the bios/drivers to new notebook before you know what you need

well i course i dont "want the worse" but since ASUS doesn't put a detailed description of what changes are entailed in the updates, and although i may not be having a problem with a driver or hardware, (meaning everythings fine)it is my understanding that sometimes a updated driver is just plain better so it may not be clear to me What I Need, not a comp wiz.
but if i do install a new driver and dont like it the original should be there for me to re-install?
    thanks

So, when your NB comes on Wednesday, you will get better picture what you got and what not.
I have no any connections to ASUS and can't answer your question why ASUS doesn't put detailed descriptions about changes NB entailed in the updates. I guess ASUS follows KISS approach - use ASUS live update. What about plain better, it might have side effect. If your notebook will be up to your dreams, plain better can turn to a worse

Added: you can find lots and lots of information about G2 and all updates possible and impossible if you do your search
