i just bought my asus f81se notebook last week and i want to be able to connect to the internet using dial-up aside from DSL. it says on asus site that my notebook has ac97 s/w modem but when i put in the phone jack into the slot, it can't detect a modem present. and there is no listed modem in the phone and modem options (control panel). is this ac97 s/w modem really a modem or i'm having hardware/software problems? WIndows vista home premium is installed.

please help, this laptop is a big jump form my very old pentium 2. thanks!

Hi marts, and welcome to the forums.

Have you tried reinstalling your modem driver from your drivers disk?
