    Hello,

Monday i am expecting my new lap top from New egg Asus g1s b1. Before i except the package i wanted to ask you all one question.

Will this lap top be good for 4-5 years?

I will be using it for work but i also like to play games such as wow, fear, cod

i plan on playing age of conan down the road and any good shooters that may come out.

I do not need to play everything in max settings , just medium settings.

I have a good gaming rig at home and am sick of not having something portable to play games. so i want to get a lap top now but will wait a little longer if the one i ordered will not be good 4-6 years down the road.

    thanks

    Mark

You'll be hard pressed to find any 'new' laptop that will still be good for gaming in 4-5 years. Top of the line tech today (which the 8600m GT isn't really) will be considerably outdated in just a few years. But it should certainly last you at least 2 years, with new games three years from now being played on low.

Regardless of Vista or XP, I strongly recommend against 64-bit consumer OS-es. They are still in their infancy and you're bound to get a lot of problems. Stick with 32-bit for now.

And also, you'll be hard pressed to find any 2008 computer besides high-end business models (thinkpad and the like) that will physically last 5+ years.
