Hi, I just got my asus g1s and am super excited to open it up. quick question though and i know this is the wrong forum but couldn't post anywhere else.

    1) should i power it up WITH the battery in the laptop?
    2) i should always take the battery out when it is being powered by ac adapter right?

i'm sort of a laptop noobie, thanks!

Yes, it's fine to power it up with the battery in.

You don't need to take the battery out when powered by AC........... it will charge the battery when on AC power (and when the battery is fully charged it doesn't use it anyway).

    1) Power the laptop with the battery installed.

    2) In my opinion I would leave you battery in even when you are using ac power. The battery will stop charging after it becomes fully charged. Plus if you leave you battery in your laptop you won't have to worry about accidentally unplugging your laptop when the battery is not installed.

    Brian,

I hear the G1 had a terrible webcam

So don't expect much from the G1s in that department either.

Well I ordered the G1S from newegg.com yesterday and it SHOULD be here by friday. I will try out FEAR, Oblivion, Halo 2, and maybe something older like Doom 3 or Farcry and will try to get some benchmarks for you guys if no one has posted them by friday.

    western australia....
costs heaps for shipping too, but it would probably cost just as much if i hadve waited and bought it here.
plus, i'll probably be the only person in australia with a laptop with a dx10 vid card, haha.

strachany: It will be interesting to see how you go with Australian customs, If you dont declare it, They will charge you the 10% GST and a $50 processing fee for not declaring it. Also the last time I had something stuck in customs it took 2 weeks for them to even let me know they had it, another week to process it, and another week for it to get to me. If the insured value on the box is over 1K then they will seize it. Please let us know how it goes.
