hey i am about to install xp on my asus g1s laptop with bios version 300
i was wondering whether i have to slipstream?
according to this article : http://asusg1s.wikidot.com/installing-windows-xp
you can install xp on asus without installing drivers
what i mean is just just change the bios and then insert the cd.
or has someone tried this? please tell me detailed

You can always try installing XP without slipstreaming first (you're not losing anything here
). But from what I know, you'll need to integrate the SATA driver with an XP installation in order for it work.

should i just configure bios to sata compatible mode? but what would happen to my C drive?
and what about the D drive? -
Yes, you may be required to set your SATA config to compatible mode (at least that's what i did on some of the other Asus laptops I had).
I would first backup all your important data from your hard drive before installing XP. -
okay thanks for your reply. but i do i have to partitio´n by disc? i dont know how to do that

I don't remember exactly what the steps are, but i think you can partition your hard drive during the installation if you're starting out with a formatted drive. If not, you can always create a new partition after the installation.
