    Hello,

so i got a g50vt-a1 since x-mas and some weeks ago tuneup utilites told me that my c: is damaged. However it couldnt be repaired cause the hdd is in use.
So what i tried and what makes problems:

live cd´s dont work at all(sue, ubuntu)
installing winxp or vista with the install cd doesnt work (=bluescreen).
Only vista restore works.. so this means i can never install any windows? Cant be normal?

I removeed the damaged hdd and also tried some external hdd via firewire(didnt dedect it) and usb. With usb the restore worked and it moved all the stuff on the external hdd. BUT:
Booting doesnt work: Couldnt read the disk

On a mac with vmware it works and it boots vista..

I´m doing a backup of my 2nd hdd right now and will try to use that one as my main hdd and try to install/restore on it. If this also wont work i guess there is something more damaged? But what could it be?

    THanks

    Hi,

Usually getting bluescreens on installers is a cause from the SATA. Try changing it from Enhanced to Compatible, in the BIOS. I can't remember exactly where that setting is because my G50V is currently not working from messing around with the BIOS. But that is how I was able to install XP and Vista was by changing that setting to Compatible.

The so called bloatware is on the G50V disc.... oh and hitting F9 at bootup (unless your recovery partition is gone now, dunno if it was touched or not) and using the restore for the hard drive is a more accurate to original setup then the restore discs.
