ok well im looking into an asus for gaming. it has alot of power i think except for the graphics card.

from some reviews, it only gets less than 6,000. this isint powerful enough as i need at least 7,000

    so just a few questions;

1; how much more powerful is a 9700M GTS vs a 9700M GT?

2; whats the difference between the asus g50 a1 and a2? and links?

3; will this laptop run cod4 online maxed out(or pretty close to it) on at least 1440x900

4; will it run cs source maxed out on all settings?

5; how long will this last as for playing future games.

right now im on a toshiba qosmio x300, which i may keep (it has a 9700M GTS) but the processor is pretty week.

    so my last question is

6; should i keep the toshiba x300 or get the asus g50 a1/2

i need something that can game decently and hope this asus can do it.

The difference between the A1 and A2 models are the hard disks and the optical drive:

    A1
    500 GB 5400 rpm SATA ( 250 GB X2)
    DVDRW Super Multi

    A2
    400 GB 7200 rpm SATA ( 200 GB X2)
    Blu-Ray Read/DVDRW Super Multi

You can see it on the review by GenTechPC

About the graphics I can't help you. I haven't used mine to game.

I have CoD4 settings & frames per second in my review.

Have not played counter strike in a long time, due to the age of the game I think it should max out rather easy.

I think CoD4 at that res and near max setting is more in the high end desktop range, notebooks that can do it I would expect to be big, heavy, hot, and expensive. The G50 is only slightly big but does not fit the other categories :p

On my G50V I can run CoD4 comfortably on mostly high settings @ native res but I usually play battlefield 2142, which runs totally maxxed. Both look outrageously good and frames aplenty.

Edit: any source engine game will run maxxed, including HL2 lost coast, CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, etc
