hi, i bought an asus g50v a1 last summer. Today when i booted the pc up and started windows i had my headphones still pluged in, i started winamp and unplugged the headphones but i noticed that no sound came out from the laptop. Speakers are fine as i double checked with the boot bang noise (when the republic of gamers logo apears at start its followed by some sort of thundering bang :p ), i open up the realtek HD audio manager and their the green slot is highlighted wich is the equivalent for the headphone slot. Also if i introduce a jack in any other slot windows picks it up and notifies me via a bubble but for the headphone slot it doesnt. My only guess is that it might me a hardware problem with the jack slot and that windows doesnt pick up the fact that i unplugged the jack, so it doesnt know it has to send the sound out trough the laptops speakers.

I had this problem with a PDA 2 years ago, there i just had to plug and unplug the headphones repeatedly with the ocasional restart and it would work again.

If anybody had this isue before or got a clue about my problem i beg u pls help :D. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

It does sound like a mechanical issue with the audio-in port. But before we can rule out software related issues, try reinstalling the audio driver and if that fails, perform a system restore back to when the speakers were working.

If it's a hardware issue, you will need to send your notebook to Asus for servicing.
