it's fairly big for a 15.4", I heard it was bigger than a MacBook pro 17" notebook, it just has a thick rim around the screen. Can't help you with measurements as I can't find a ruler, sorry!

I presume this can be done with just simple trig as the pixels are native(&square?).

at 16:10. you can find the angle. and you know the hypotenuse is 15.4".....

so the angle is Arctan(10/16) = 32.00538321 degrees.

    so the height is, 15.4 sin(32...) = 8.162"
    and the width is 15.4 cos(32...) = 13.06"

I figured you wanted to know the widthxheight of the screen? as the measurements of the entire chassis can be found from the websites. so im hoping this is what u meant. enjoy - someone should just grab a ruler to confirm.

15 is fine for gaming .. ye .. but the notebook is already as big as a 17" inch notebook.. and a bigger screen would be better for working. So i still wonder if the 17" is also fine for gaming?

Most ppl give pro-con because of the notebooks size.. but the g50vt isn´t really smaller than the g71vt :p

I was the same as you. I didnt like how big the g50 was as it is the same size as a dell or apple 17".

I was almost going to buy the g71 but than I remembered two this.

First the G71 weighs a few pounds more. Now thats not a lot but when the 15 is already at 7lb a few more is a lot.

Next he G71 is a little bigger. I think it deeper and a tad more wide.

Some of this is because for example it also has a bigger battery.

So in all its even bigger.

I wish could have a 17" monitor in the g50, it would be the shi* than! I dont care if bat life was even less, lol.

    Anyway just my 2 cents.

hmm true.. 3.6kg (or 9-10lb) is pretty much for a laptop which i have to take everyday to school. But on the other side i will get my driving.license pretty soon so it doesnt matter that much. Ahhh still can´t decide :D

Maybe u can tell me why you would liek to have a 17" ? is the 15" too small for working?

    thx

G50Vt-A1 here and LOVING it. Also the games look sharper on the smaller screen. I find also that since I am gaming on a laptop I am much closer to the screen and I think a 17" would be too big! This 15.4 is like my 22" when close to my face as I had the 22" back quite a bit!

Since you found the screen size. I would definitely recommend the G50vt Its slightly larger than you may think, but Its worth it if you plan to travel place to place and want to game.

If you plan on video editing I would say the G71g because it does give you that extra boost of RAM at 6 GB. Otherwise they are basically the same, except the G71 is more expensive.

I haven't found verification anywhere, but I dug thru a specsheet that says the chipset can support DDR2 up to 8GB with the right densities. Here's the thread:

You could, but you would need a 4GB Stick. I don't think its necessary to get 6GB, the 4GB that comes with the G50 is plenty for windows vista.
