I have used nvidia system tools to overclock my g72gx dual core system. I use over clocked it to core clock 550 memory clock 975 and shader clock 1375 I also use turbo gear extreme to overclock cpu 15% . I only use this when a game loads and I set it to turn of when the game turns off. What kind of maximum temperature should I try and stay at. I don't really want to burn out my gpu? does having high temperature slowly burn out the GPU and will I year from now doing my laptop run slowly?
    thanks

I think most people would say that if your GPU temp stays at 88C or under its no big deal. I personally don't think it will do anything adverse to your GPU as long as you aren't constantly running at temps higher than what I just mentioned. Other people believe differently though.

EDIT- One other thing, keep in mind that the 260M comes downclocked by Asus, and the stock settings for a 260M are supposed to be 550/950/1375, so you aren't even oc'ing the GPU that much.

How did you set it up to only OC when you run a game? I want to do that.

If you use nvidia's overclocking tool you can go into:
    NVIDIA Control Panel
under "Performance" there's a section called "Profile Policies"

You can make a policy there that sets the GPU at a saved profile when opening a particular application.

    Thanks all.

I will do this for games and leave it at factory otherwise.
