I get all my hard to find screws from them. On my M570TU, I use M3x4mm screws to mount the bracket to my hard drive, and M2.5x4.5mm screws to anchor the bracket to the chassis. They are slightly longer than the original screws that came with my hard drive and bracket, but the screw wells can take much longer screws so a slightly longer shank wouldn't hurt.

i just physically tried pulling 2 of the screws from my g71 hard drive, and my g1 hard drive brackets, but it was physically impossible, theyre screwed in so tight they wont budge, and the screws will strip before anything actually moves.....

I believe you need 6-32 UNC mounting screws for 2.5" drives.

You can completely forgo the extra bracket and use something else. I took two of those foam earplugs, cut the rounded end off, folded them over, and used them to hold the hard drive in place. Has been working since March in both my G51 and G50.

Shake, where'd you get that bracket? While foam is well and good, I'm going to try copper modding my HDDs.

Yes, I'm that obsessed with cooling now.

i used the little foam ring that comes on the top of cd/dvd-rw spindles, the one i used came from Sony DVD-RWs. I just put it on the top of the drive, covered it back up and its done great

It would be faster to just visit the local hardware store and pick up (4) 6-32 UNC screws.

those screws you listed are for mounting the hard drive to the bracket right, not the bracket to the frame. cause i can get the ones to go for the frame to the bracket easier from my g1 and less used g71 scews.

The 6-32 UNC is the most common size screw used when installing a 2.5" drive. So yes when securing an HDD/SSD to the bracket it would more than likely be a 6-32 screw going into the HDD/SSD.

The only thing you should check is the length of the screw as you don't want to get them to long as you could damage the drive in the process. Less than ¼” should be safe. I would still consult your HDD/SSD manual or compare what are on the current drive if you are installing a second as a precaution.

    Like these.

I would guess this is why ASUS does not include any screws to secure the HDD to the bracket since the size and length of the screw is really dependant on the HDD/SDD itself. Case in point say they sent 6-32 screws 6mm long but your HDD is not "standard" so it took 8-32 screws which would not work or parish the thought should only take 4mm lengths and you torque those 8mm in to far and damaged the drive. Consult your HDD/SDD install manual for the appropriate install screw dimensions.

With regards to the screws needed to secure the G51/71 HDD bracket to the laptop, I'm not sure what size they are however I would guess your local hardware man/woman could match them up to what is used on the other bracket (its not rocket science) as well.
