    asus k40ab screen brightness problem

    my laptop is asus k40ab, but when i try to change the screen brightness using the hotkey, i have to restart the computer to have the effect, im using vista sp1,
    i was using xp before and i have no problem about this. any solution?

    how is the performance of k40ab?? does it get hot when playing games??

    eerrhh... no one have this kind of problem too?

    anyways, the performance is pretty good, i can pay games such as DMC4, sims3, and the last remnants without any trouble. it does get hot, but i think it is still on a normal temperature for a laptop when used for such task. my sony vaio laptop is even much more hotter when i use it for regular task such as browsing and typing documents.

    i want to buy this laptop,but im worried about amd processor in it..everyone says its going to give trouble and it wont work after an year or so...

    well, the screen brightness is the only problem i've had so far....
    any reason why your friend said so? AMD is one of the best processor manufacturer in the industry, i wouldn't doubt its quality...

    my friends say that amd processors are prone to overheating and they work properly for 1-1.5 yrs n then start giving trouble...thats why i'm a bit scared of buying it,but i like it ..

    Im not sure if i have the same problem as you but,

    Sometimes after I put my computer to hibernate and then turn it back on, the Fn brightness hotkeys don't work.
    Anyone else getting this?

    @hitme666, i think it will be fine as long as u dont overclock it.

    @accuracy, im not sure, but in my case, the fn+f5/f6 gotkey does display the brightness meter change, but the acual lcd brightness doesn't change until i restart my computer, and this happen all the time,

    I try many solution for fix this problem util now I can solved it!

    Please follow this step:

    1. Check your BIOS version if your BIOS version old below ver 220. You need to update it from Support ASUS Driver Website

    2. Download BIOS version 220 for fix problem on

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt

    --- click on BIOS Link --> download from Global or China Server

    (if page cannot be found you should search your Model is "K40AB")

    3. Download and Extract File "K40ABAS220.zip" on your Drive C: or Flash Drive

    4. Restart your laptop

    5. Enter to BIOS Setup (Press F2 on booting)

    6. Go to Start Flash BIOS

    7. Select file name "K40ABAS.220" and let begin Flash!!

    8. Wait wait wait .... if finish your laptop will be pop-up Sucessful and restart.

    9. After restart your should enter to BIOS Setup again and Load manufatory setting for Default.
